Hands-On with Halliday Smart Glasses: Futuristic Display Tech Right in Your Line of Sight
Smart glasses are evolving fast, and the latest innovation from Halliday is turning heads — literally. I recently got a chance to try out the Halliday Smart Glasses, and I was genuinely surprised by what they offer. These glasses feature an invisible near-eye display that discreetly delivers real-time information directly into your field of vision.
Retailing for $489, the Halliday Smart Glasses made their debut at CES 2025, showcasing a compelling blend of futuristic hardware and AI-driven features. While the final polish is still pending ahead of their Q1 launch, this device is undeniably packed with promise.
A Unique Take on AR: Meet DigiWindow
Unlike traditional AR glasses, Halliday uses what it calls DigiWindow technology — a lens-free projection system that beams content into your upper-right field of view. It feels like having a 3.5-inch floating screen that doesn’t obstruct your natural vision.
Even under bright sunlight, visibility remains strong, a major win over many current AR devices. And interacting with these glasses is refreshingly intuitive, thanks to built-in touch gestures (double-tap, swipe) and a separate trackpad ring for seamless control.
Real-Time Translation and Smart AI Assistance
During my demo, one feature stood out: real-time language translation. When someone spoke Chinese, the English translation appeared nearly instantly in the corner display. It was smooth, accurate, and fast.
But the real magic lies in its proactive AI assistant. Halliday's smart glasses aren’t just reactive they actively support you during conversations. The AI can:
- Analyze discussions
- Fact-check spoken statements
- Answer complex questions
- Summarize meetings
- Generate post-meeting notes
It’s like having a personal knowledge companion with you at all times — a feature that could be a game-changer for professionals and multitaskers.
Seamless Integration with Your Phone
Connected via Bluetooth, Halliday Smart Glasses also function as an extension of your smartphone. Key features include:
- Audio memo recording and summaries
- Notification previews with quick replies
- Built-in teleprompter mode
- Navigation guidance
- Live song lyrics display
And despite all the tech under the hood, the glasses are surprisingly lightweight and don’t scream “wearable tech” which is a major plus for style-conscious users.
Some Caveats: Narrow Field of View
As much as I loved the innovation, the field of view was relatively narrow, and it took a bit of adjusting to get the visual alignment just right. It’s something I’d like to see refined in the final version.
Final Thoughts: Promising, But Worth the Wait?
The Halliday Smart Glasses are an exciting glimpse into the future of augmented reality and wearable AI. At $489, they are priced higher than the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses ($299), which don’t include a display. But for those craving advanced functionality and next-gen features, Halliday offers something truly next level.
Stay tuned — a full in-depth review is coming soon.
